Is this a duplex? Make the columns more substantial also

Yes it is a duplex, I thought about removing the columns completely, would that be a better option, or beefier columns, I assume square or rectangle and not round?

Ugh, why did they paint the brick? Paint all the white trim a "greige" color so that there is less contrast with the brick. Don't add shutters. Instead build up the columns as jck910 suggested and paint those greige as well. Paint the front doors dark red. Just those changes will improve the façade enormously.

There's a lot you can do with landscaping and just cleaning up the front. Those bushes should be trimmed down a couple feet with the middle one removed. It's just stuck there. Build some fencing on the side for the garage cans. Think about a real driveway at some point.

Also, I was looking at something like Rustic Red for the front door unless it should be darker like Rookwood Dark Red

Since it is a duplex I think the 2 storm doors should match. I like Edgecomb Gray, it is very light. As far as the reds go I would try both against the brick to see which blends better. Paint the storm doors the same color as in the doors

What about a charcoal or black for the front door?

Andy, honestly, you're worrying about trim colors and the brick but you can't even see any of it. No offense but that driveway is the focal point. Then the trashcans , satellite dishes and then the overgrown shrubs. Painting the trim and doors is the least you can do. Sorry.

Major landscaping should be done first.

Find a spot on the side or build an enclosure to hide the trash cans. See what can be done for that driveway. Would be cool if you could turn it into a circular drive

See about moving the dishes to the back side of the roof so they're out of sight. Pull out the round shrubs and the lonely center one. In the fall, cut the hedges down to about 2 feet; they'll grow but keep them under 2.5 feet. Replace the wrought iron with square columns. Paint the doors and new all glass storms to match. Paint the trim; the colors Beth H. posted look nice. Build a screen for the trash cans. The same style of screen can replace the wrought iron dividing the two units from each other. Add new, large house numbers and mail boxes for each unit. Save up to replace the drive and parking next year.

Beth nailed it. 2/3 of the view of this property is front yard and driveways in disrepair. If you want to enhance your curb appeal, improve that first. Even a coat of black top would help. Do glossy black front doors and new light fixtures. SW Tricorn Black in glossy finish. Some black planters with mixed color flowers would help a lot.

Try pressure washing the brick to remove as much of the whitewash as you can.

Replace the metal posts with square wood posts.

Add a forward facing gable over the front entry door and extend it beyond the rest of the porch roof .

Create parking spaces on each side of your extended front porch and create a half circle driveway across the front yard to reach them..

Thank you everyone. I do own the duplex and want to clean up the entire thing. The reason I am asking about paint is the duplex has no gutters and has a few rotting fascia boards. I want to replace the boards, paint the trim, replace the front doors, paint those then add guttering. We are coming upon rainy season so I wanted to make sure to get guttering in before all the rain.

The fence is almost about to fall over as well, so I could have a new divider and something made to hide the trash cans at that point. Last, I would tackle the driveway.
