Thermador Experience

Really like the look of Thermador appliances but the reviews are all horrible. Like kitchen aid but seems too common for the look I’m going for. Lastly, like GE Cafe but was told since parts come from China I should avoid the line. Thoughts?

All brands vendor parts from world-wide sources so that's not much of a factor.

Bosch is the cousin of Thermador. Maybe look at those. Miele is another option at the Thermador level. They seem to make pretty much everything that Tdor does and is certainly high end

    Anyone with actual Thermador experience???

Our Thermidor Pro all gas range was installed 18 months ago. I love the two xlo simmer burners, the star burners, and the quick heat oven. For eighteen years in our previous house, we had a Thermador five burner cooktop and loved it. At that house I had a Kitchenaid double oven which I disliked. It took a long time to preheat and an even longer time to cool. The cooling fan was so noisy it interfered with conversation around the corner in the breakfast room. It had the blue enamel lining and I was warned by Kitchenaid customer service that it could explode and using spray on oven cleaner would void my warranty. I have also used my DD’s Wolf range. It responds just a little differently than my Thermador, but I also love cooking on it. Her DD bakes frequently and everything is nearly perfect. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Thermador or Wolf.

I ended up going with all Thermador appliances in my new build two years ago. I had purchased their double oven for my remodel in my previous house and loved it. I've got the 6 burner range top, double convection oven, French door fridge with bottom freezer, microwave drawer and dishwasher. None have given me any issues except the ice maker when it was first delivered. The dishwasher isn't my favorite (I had Miele before) but it cleans just fine. I wouldn't hesitate to get them again😊

Thanks guys! I am loving these positive Thermador reviews! I was hoping some were out there!! Anyone else have an experience to share?

I have a Thermador gas range and a built in Thermador electric oven. They are new. Just finished our remodel in December. So far, I love them.

We have had a Thermidor 36” range for the last 9 years. A few problems, but overall, very happy.

We use the Thermador 30 '' self-cleaning built-in oven. Wonderful appliance. I plan to change the cooktop on Thermador too

20-year-old Thermador dual-fuel range is in tip-top shape—as is my SubZero fridge, also 20-years old.

Just an FYI that I ended up doing a full Thermador suite of products and I've been happy with them all!

@widdy23 Which appliances did you specifically go with ? Did you get the Thermador steam oven?

@Donna Reed. Yes, I did! I love it and use it frequently. I'll always have a steam oven in the future.

@widdy23 Do you mind sharing which appliances you have? I’m planning to do freedom induction, double steam/oven (or debating on separating instead of combo for controls and getting side swing door), sapphire DW, and then either Therm 30” column fridge and freezer (or do SZ instead for food freshness technology). We are also putting in Therm fridge drawers by the smoothie/coffee/cocktail bar. Any input?

@Donna Reed. We did the 36" single door fridge freezer, double steam oven, microdrawer, 36" liberty mirrored induction, masterpiece downdraft, 1000 cfm blower, sapphire dishwasher, plumbed coffee and 18" wine column. I've had a similar SZ fridge before, the only thing the Thermador is missing is interior water. We have a beverage fridge in our laundry nearby that has exterior water/ice, so that wasn't an issue for us. I do love my Thermador fridge more than I thought I would. The only thing I'd change (but layout couldn't accommodate) is I prefer a side swing door over drawer microwave. Hope that helps.

@widdy23 just curious why you chose the Thermador fridge over the subzero? Was it because of the package or the price? Or do you not find a big difference in the France? I was impressed with the air scrubber technology and some of the other features to keep food from crossing and the smells as well as prolong items stored. We have family that have had a subzero for over 20 years and never had an issue. Also, I do have a microwave drawer in the plans but I am starting to think about doing a speed oven instead. Have you looked into that?

@Donna Reed - SZ is a great fridge, but I went with Thermador because of the package. That said, I don't really feel that the performance of my previous SZ was much (if at all) greater than my current Thermador. Thermador has a push to open feature which I love because the seal on both fridges is very heavy (part of what makes them work so well). SZ didn't have that when I was buying, but maybe has now? When doing the comparison, I felt SZ also hadn't done much to improve their lighting or inside compared to the fridge I had purchased 15 years ago. I do love the 42" French Door SZ, but unfortunately I didn't have the room for it. If I would have, I might have switched to that one. Re speed oven, I did evaluate that - but I didn't have room in my layout. My double wall/steam oven takes up the wall space I had, and I didn't want to put something like that in my island for ergonomic reasons.

@Donna Reed - not sure if this helps, but here are a few photos of our appliances/layout.

@widdy23 where are you finding recipes for the steam oven. Their cookbook was not the type of cooking I do.

I put in a 5 burner Thermador gas cooktop in kitchen update in our previous home. I loved it so much I put the same range in my new home 4 years ago. I still love it as much as when I put it in my previous home.

@daobrien To be honest, their preset menu meets most of my basic needs. There are many different recipes if you search online. I'll attach some pics of the categories and under each category there are various options to choose from... dummy proof.

Thank you. They have changed it. We had none of that. Will have to reconsider for our new build.
