Put an open sofa table in FRONT of the window, move that small table to near end of sofa. Add a pair of lamps to the sofa table.

Best money sent would be a larger, more interesting rug. Extending behind!! the sofa. A more open , less heavy cocktail table too.

Thanks! I have this table I could possibly paint- or just to show what a sofa table could look like, would it work with a larger rug and or lighter coffee table? Or would it be better by window?

You seem to have a lot of space back there, and sofas rarely look good just gloating, unanchored. SO, something to consider: put a sofa table and tuck two stools under it. It makes a great table for kids: eating a snack, playing a game, etc., or just overflow seating for a big crowd watching TV.
