love the Fireplace.

While the colors mentioned above are nice, I think they are too yellow/tan to work w/your fireplace. I think they work w/the floor fine, but not the cooler tones in your tile. find a color that works w/both and stay away from the yellows. or the really icier blue/grays.

what if you did Simply White? then you could bring in black/white rug, furniture, walnut chairs, etc.

as an example, this is my room. I went w/Simply white on the walls. My island (you can barely see) is Wrought Iron.

or go w/ the blues. Article Sven sofa

this would also look great in your room. same floor. dark blue sofa. walnut chairs. just imagine your fireplace here.

if you have the white walls, you can bring in plants, art, pillows for your colors.

do a lighter rug, or even a jute or sisal for some texture.

To add to the warmth of the wood mantle, do some leather accents like the pouf I have in my room. maybe some wood shelves.

I also like the idea of going really dark on that one wall and white on the others.

basically if you did the one wall dark and the others white, it would look like this. (ignore the overall style of the room and just look at wall colors)

I like the dark around your fireplace so that it really makes it a focal point. (you'll have to do something w/those windows though. the security bars are a NO)

this blue, above, would be something like Hale Navy

you could also mix black w/hale navy and get something like this:
