Backsplash/Sidesplash Advice

Hello! This is my first post :)

We are ripping out our countertop and putting in quartz without the countertop backslash. Instead we will be adding subway tile as our backsplash.

I know sidesplashes as a whole are frowned upon unless they have a purpose, but I am almost wondering if since this is a mini wall whether or not I should just continue the subway tile and have a sidesplash.

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance :)

I'd say it makes sense to do the sidesplash given your configuration.

If you want it go ahead. The only objection I have to a side splash is when it extends beyond the upper cabinets.Your entire wall barely extends beyond your uppers.

That said, your upper and lower cabinets do not match in finish. What's going on there?

Thank you both for your input! I am thinking the sidesplash would make the most sense im this case.

And haha yes! We are working on refinishing the cabinets also :) The upper cabinets are complete and we are about to start the lower cabinets soon.
