I know this will sound very strange but it has worked for water stains on my tables,my beloved Aunt taught me that trick about 40 years ago, try using some mayonnaise, rub it in really well and let it sit for a few minutes, then rub it off with a clean soft rag. Hopefully shellajoyce is correct and all it needed was to dry out. Good Luck... Let us know how it goes.

Some of the Windex products have ammonia - not good for wood finishes.

Olive oil, works for rings on my dining room table. I pour a small amount on the ring, let it sit for about 5 minutes, and using paper towels, wipe it off, and then buff it with a dry towel.

Again, olive oil or mayonnaise (both oil based products) work with WAXED finishes. Ie the things that you use 'Pledge' as a cleaning/dusting product. The white rings are not IN the wood, they are moisture rings sitting in WAX. If you use OIL on WAX, the oil penetrates the wax to REMOVE the moisture ring.

This does NOT work on polyurethaned floors. It does, however work on WAXED floors. The one's where you had to apply the WAX every year. The floors ALMOST NO ONE HAS any more.

What works for furniture (the stuff people use 'Pledge' - which is a wax infused polish) does NOT work on hardwood floors. Most homeowners do NOT use Pledge on their floors. Please do NOT try to furniture rings solutions on hardwood floors. It won't work AND it will contaminate your hardwoods with oils.
