Plywood comes 96" long. What's the problem please?

No problem. Is that what is typically used? Is 3/4" thick enough? What would you use to cover the face?

Iron on wood tape or a matching species 1x. 3/4" is fine.

A 1x2 turned sideways makes a nice substantial looking top. It's easy to make it look part of the piece, not just a piece of wood sitting on the top.

If you seam it before you finish it...no seam.

Wow... That's really nice. I did something similar in our office and it came out great. i used 3/4" birch and then used a 3/4" pine screen moulding to cover the edge. I needed to use some putty to fill a few chips along the cut edge but when painted its invisible. My only worry with using the same method this time is that the putty spots will be visible and the pine moulding will stain different than the birch ply and look awkward.

If you're going to stain, use the same wood species for both nosing and deck. Make your joint tight to minimize the use of putty.

Can I ask what materials you used for the top? I like the thickness and the edge.

Clear alder. Veneer for the top, solid wood for edge.
