A search for "ceramic towel bar" on eBay provides more than a few results.

Grab bars can be installed inside a shower and function as towel bars. Do a search on Home Depot or Amazon. They both have a nice selection of all different styles.

Have you considered hooks? And make sure whatever you decide (hooks or bar), that you plan for placement and proper reinforcement before tile installation.

Too late to put in blocking for grab bars...unless we can figure out a way to bolt them to the wall. Great idea, though.

There are two options for mounting them without blocking. One is to find the studs with a stud finder and mount them into the studs. The other is to buy the specialized mounts that allow you to not use blocking. I think with those they still prefer you put one end in a stud.

Turns out this is a great suggestion because the walls have not been put up and I can see the studs and insulation.. There is enough 2x8 leftover to block it, too. Thanks for the idea!
