I would hang the mirror horizontally and find a shelf of equal length or just a little longer to hang beneath it.

You will need to think about how wide the shelf can be without the door hitting it and I would look at getting that heater moved over so it is not straddling the 2 floors. I like the round mirror but really I would do a nice piece of art and hopefuly no shoes under the shelf but a samll bench is a nice spot for guests to remove and put on shoes it could go on that wall facing us in the picture with the mirror above it

idaclaire do you mean keep the existing mirror? and Patricia if I did do the shelf and mirror combo would you recommend putting a little bench on this wall here?

would you guys say the longer I go with the shelf the longer that wall will look?

Cc, I would think about moving the shelf down the wall a bit. Right now, it feels too tight to the entry. If you keep your mirror, you could do a small bench on the wall with the light switch and a piece of art over that. What's your budget for a shelf?

Have you tried the console table on the wall with the light switch? you can move the mirror down the wall and add a small bench under it :)

katinparadise I'm getting a round mirror to go above the wood shelf we end up getting. so you would move a shelf and mirror away from the door? notice the heater below. I'm not sure if that matters.

outshopping422 the table was originally there but a houz member recommended I change it to this wall and I do like it here much better!

Not sure if it's just the picture, but the mirror looks a little top heavy for the shelf.

hi angel I mentioned in the comment that I may get hom to add a couple inches onto the shelf... but I cant go too long because it will be hitting my front door

I went with the warmer shade to match the floors.

this is just an example of what it will look like. the guy is extending it 5 inches. should I make it thinner as it is quite thick or leave it as is?

Hang the shelf. I think it will look great!

About 4-5" below the mirror. The center of the mirror should be 55-60" off the floor. I think thicker is better to balance the size of the mirror. I'm not sure you need to make it longer.

hes adding a few inches on to the new one. this one was a little warped so he has a straighter piece of wood!

we will need to add brackets as it's a bit to heavy .... should I get plain black metal?

It looks nice! I think black brackets would tie in nicely with the mirror frame. These are graceful and soft with the curves.
