Turquoise chairs to play off that yellow brick. The large flower pots could be bright yellow. Find some outdoor pillows in a coordinated group of colors for your chairs, and yes, a table, maybe green. I think Fiesta Ware colors jumped into my mind, so I would pick things in that vein.

Planters across the front of the porch would provide the biggest impact. In the photos below the top picture shows gray planters to match the roof and white flowers to highlight the trim. The bottom picture shows white planters with purple fowers that contrast the yellow brick. Different colors of planters and flowers will give you different looks. I would choose spreading plants that hang over the planter sides. Look for long-blooming annual plants that take full sun. In the fall switch them out for winter-hardy ornamental cabbage and kale which are hardy to zone 7. If your zone is colder, consider retiring the planters to storage until spring. Year-round outdoor planters should be made of fiberglass, resin, heavy plastic, concrete, metal or wood. Terracotta will crack or spall, but pottery glazed on both the inside and outside may endure, because it doesn't contain enough water.

Cut the HUGE bush in front of the window on the left side of the house back. The bush/tree at the corner is okay with nice exposed banching, may need to clean it up a little by removing more leafy branches to raise the canopy. Take a picture of the leaves close up on the big center bush and branching and someone can ID it and tell you if it is able to be cut back to the ground and regrow. Then all you will have to do is keep it under control.

Therese, here is a LIST of free and paid downloadable landscaping programs. You should do a search for "free online landscape design programs" to find others. They all have a learning curve.

I used Paint.net, a free drawing and photo manipulation program that began as a university undergraduate project mentored by Microsoft. I copied your photo and pasted it into the program. After that I added a planter and two plant types. This too has a learning curve, but your unobstructed porch made the addition easy.

It's exposed to weather so invest in a comfortable metal framed glider swing or bench that can withstand exposure to the elements and be easily repainted and repainted -- black or any color you want -- with Rust-O'leum 2x spray paint.

For the right side, choose a large sturdy (wide ... not tall and thi/narrow that can easily be knocked over) planter pot in your favorite bold color and add a plant or mix of plants you truly like.

You could add a wind chime with an eye hook to the overhang above it.

You could add a plain concrete bird bath in the center of the front yard -- either side of the sidewalk -- so it is visible from your front porch. Make sure the top of the bowl is wider than the bottom rather than straight sides so that in winter when water freezes, the ice can form and push upward without breaking the bird bath.
