Move the chest of drawers over to the left at the edge of the wall and add a plant in a large colorful pot on a plant stand to the right of it -- between chest of drawers and window/door/curtain.

Choose a lighter curtain and hang it a high enough to not quite touch the floor -- that sloppy drapes drag the floor fad is just ... sloppy -- as if someone made a mistake and is too lazy to correct it.

Lol! Yeah not a fan of the curtains too but my husband works nights so we need dark blackout curtains in there. I do need to raise them though. I installed them way too low

Add about 4 more curtain panels so that it isn't flat when the curtains are closed. It may look different in real life but in the photo the cool grey wall, warm grey curtains, and beige carpet are not the best together.

J Jones, what color is your bedding? You can buy blackout curtains in all colors. If you have to add more panels anyway, why not look for something that really helps complement and elevate your room? I like the idea of moving the dresser over and adding some life to the corner with a plant. Use a stand to elevate it and I think you'll find you really like how it makes the corner feel.

Do you have a budget you can commit to curtains? I'm very good at finding them for great prices. What color is your wall paint? The problem with the ones you have now is that they just don't coordinate with anything. That's why I asked what color your bedding was.

This may seem like a step backward ...but i would paint the wall behind the chest and tv white...this will lighten up the corner and feature the hubbies chest a little better..and add a little contrast to the dark wall and curtain..also if the curtain is returnable..the light blocking curtains come in white and other lighter colors that would make the gray wall color look more fashionable and less foreboding...

If you have only one curtain and two windows, you could try putting the one curtain in the center and add a pair of panels (that match each other) that coordinate with the curtain color you currently have.

A white wall could make the dark cabinet seem even darker. You might consider creating an accent wall there by adding removable peel and stick wall paper if you can find some with your colors in it.
