Bathroom facelift

Hey, my husband and I are just trying to lighten up the bathroom. We are looking to spruce our bathroom up ourselves without gutting the bathroom so we are keeping all the stone and vanity but what to change the color etc. We have a brown stone bathroom and I’m looking for ideas on paint colors. The bathroom doesn’t get much light. I’m looking for a wall color that will flow nicely with the stone and looking for what colors should we be painting the vanity.. white for the quartz top im thinking and white shower curtain but need more directions in color flow and blend. Thank you for any ideas.

Painting all the painted surfaces a true white and changing the shower curtain would make a significant difference. Also consider painting the mirror frame a light color from within the new shower curtain.

I just didn’t know if the white walls would be to harsh do u think it should still have a tint of beige in it? and do you think I should do all white vanity same color Top and cabinets?

The window in the shower/tub obviously must have frosted glass for privacy, so...when the shower is not in use, open the shower curtain to let in some light. Exchange the dark shower curtain for a light- colored curtain or a light-patterned curtain. Paint the bathroom cream to refer to the flooring, with the trim to match or white for contrast. Get new towels and machine-washable rugs to match or agree with the new shower curtain.

If you prefer an off white, make sure it doesn't have an unintended -- emphasis on unintended -- pink or yellow hue -- would even prefer either pink or yellow walls to doing that. Your countertop (on my screen) has a hint of seashell (almost pink) in it. You might consider that color instead of all white.

Is your ceiling stark white? If not, you might consider painting it to lighten the room. Changing the light in a bathroom via changing the fixture ... and sometimes just the kinds of bulbs used ... can help.

If you could find (two) shower curtains you like, you could use a piece of the second (matching) one for your window. Alternately, pick a print for either the shower curtain or window curtain and a color from it for the other curtain. If your windows are not frosted, just choose a semi-clear/frosted shower curtain from which to make your window curtain.

If your vanity is wood with wood finish rather than a veneer, would hesitate to paint it. Usually prefer to not paint real wood in good condition. If, however, you truly want drastic change, that is a step a lot of people choose.

All you need to do is get a lighter shower curtain. I would get a darker bath mat as the one you have shows the dirt too easily.

I have a bathroom where I use ivory mats but I have duplicates and change them often.

In your bathroom you cam put it up on the tub rim when not in use.

What color are the walls? Yes to finding a light creamy beige.

The color my walls are now is grant beige but it shows the green undertone to much bc the Room doesn’t get enough light. idk what color I should paint it. I dk if I should go done white or more with feather down .. any suggestions to a light creamy beige

Thank you everyone! Great suggestions. Now just looking for the right paint color

Check your lighting for coolness or warmth when choosing paint, shower curtain, towels and bath mats

The colors and style of the rooms in your home should all coordinate and flow through your home.

Example - you have red cabinets in the kitchen, so your dining room shouldn't be brown and orange, but maybe white with touches of red and navy blue, then the living room may be almost all blue and white with just a touch of red here or there. Each room speaks to the next and works with the colors that are visible from that room.

What other colors do you have in your home, what is in the rooms next to the bathroom?

The neutrals in the bathroom can work with most colors, but may not work well with the other colors in your home.

Cabinets are dark brown, couch and dining room take are light beige counter tops are white, wall color is a Light grey with light blue under tone

Do you have any color, pillows, vases, bedding, area carpets, wall art?

If not, what colors do you love? What color makes you feel like a 10 when you put it around your shoulders?

With your stone and tile having a warm beige tone keep your wall paint in that warm family to open the space. A creamy warm white would be nice. Then add accent color in your curtain. It could be darker colors in the trim or pattern if most of it is a pale background.
Or find a subtle colored curtains to contrast with the tile and paint the walls to match curtains. It is easier to find the curtain then match paint to it than painting first.
I would probably go with the white paint and use easy to change decor for color in rugs, towels and curtain. A lighter curtain will be the biggest and easiest change.

White needs light to come to life - if you don't have much light you really do not want to do white.

You need richer color that can stand up to the shadows and lack of light.

Silos by Joanna Gaines might be nice.

I would lose the shower curtai install a glass shower screen instead it would make the space feel much bigger . Get some new lighting in LEDs 4000 k that should brighten up the space and with no shower curtain you will get some light from the window

A color on the walls that contrasts with the tile will provide more interest

The tile ...stone...and floors tile trim...all have some distinct colorations that are sort of lost in the beige room...bright white walls will bring out those details and make the room feel bigger and brighter as well as tie in with the white sink and toilet...i would add color with shower curtain...towels and rugs that match...it is a little harder when you have the shower curtains closed in the pictures...maybe posting one with the curtains open will spark some new ideas

And honestly most small bathrooms have only one small window..i wouldn’t let that weigh too heavily on your choices..but hanging dark curtains and keeping them closed does make the room seem smaller...and does block the light

Yes I am def changing the shower Curtain..I have two babies so the bath is always filled with toys etc so I would rather keep it closed when I can. I’ll def be going with a Light shower curtain. I’m gonna add some color through light bath mat and towels. I also want to add a round mirror and some shelves. My biggest question Is the right paint color. I’m thinking of feather down by BM just dk if it’s the right pick

Maybe a shower curtain that's clear on top

Unfortunately no one can tell by looking at a picture on the internet if Feather Down will be the right color. You have to get a sample and see if it works as expected with your tile.

You can get peel and stick samples through https://samplize.com/

If you get a sample of Feather Down and decide that it is too light or too pink or too yellow next to the tile we can help you find something better.

I agree with Patricia Colwell Consulting. But I’d also get new fixtures in a chrome finish. That would be sharp!

Try a couple color swatches. BM Simply White is a pretty white with some warmth to it that might work. White Dove has a touch of warmth as well, a bit less buttery than Simply White. You could do the same color on the vanity and mirror that you do on the walls - just use a different paint finish. Swap out the curtain and you're done! I like the look of Serena and Lily's Healdsburg curtain in flax for a tonal look. https://www.serenaandlily.com/healdsburg-shower-curtain/m12604.html?color=Flax And maybe a pair of framed prints with a hit of green above the toilet? I don't know where you live, but if Southwest, Minted has some cool cactus and palm prints. I also love a pair of 5"x5" "shelfies" from Lauren Marttila hung on the wall (click around her site - she has great options with green in them. All are Nantucket). https://www.laurenmarttila.com/shelfies/emoji-in-the-wild-shelfie-2 Will look crisp and clean whatever you choose!

When you buy your new white shower curtain please only buy one. It looks like you have two shower curtains presently. The extra amount of fabric is much too overwhelming.

I would not go to a glass enclosure. I have one and find it constantly needs cleaning, I long for a shower curtain I can pop in the wash.

Wow! you guys have really given some great advice. I can’t not wait to put it together and post it once I’m done! thank you for ALL of your suggestions. Hopefully it will look like a brand new bathroom when finished

within 24 hours we were able to accomplish this much! I feel like considering the circumstance we got a lot done. This is the bathroom so far. I think it’s coming along. Next is new bath towels, pictures, shelves, new mirror, Light fixture and bath mat. Final product coming in the next few weeks but I think it’s really made a difference
