Are those veneer doors? What was the veneer grade and did they specify the characteristics you could expect?

You’ve got to be kidding...those cabinets are gorgeous. Wood graining, with all it‘s knotty “imperfections“, is what makes wood furniture so special. The knots on your cabs are quite small. From what I can see, they’re all closed. Count your lucky stars, and enjoy your new kitchen.

Btw, had you specified, “no knots” in your contract, you would‘ve paid 5x what you did.

I recognize the grain matching on the upper cabinets doors and they are well done. But I would be upset if I paid for clear (no knots) and received something different... I would question the grade veneer you received from what you were sold.

You made me go look at mine. I do have knots, maybe not quite as many. But as the color of the walnut changes, they mellow out.

Yours are made more prominent in that they are bookmatched veneer (or slabs I guess?), so you get twice as many knots looking at each other. But still, the cabinets look really nice and once they age and get all walnut-orangey, the knots will blend in better.

Thanks for all the feed back. They are starting to grow on me. The hardware is attached now and does take some of the focus off the wood. We didn’t discuss veneer grade and only saw a small sample to show us the color. It did not have any knots. He said their main focus is matching the grain and the color and I agree they did do a great job at that. We thought we had all our bases covered after going through a bathroom remodel that lasted way to long. I guess we are still learning!
