Yeah, as many variations as there are ppl! But most agree that it should drain fast and well, and be relatively lean. That means less peat (if any), less organics, and grittier rather than fine. Many use mix of just C&S soil and sifted/rinsed perlite or pumice (often in 1:1 ratio) - and seems to work ok. Commonly available sand is quite fine and often impedes drainage. Drainage is important for all plants, more so for succulents. Most will rot if sitting in large pot, often too big, and sometimes without drainage hole (some can grow succulents that way very successfully, but not many!) Wet feet are not for succulents...

What kind of mix do you use?

I like perlite for cuttings and cactus mix for potting up. I even use potting mix for some C&S without any issues.
