Nice Broken bed need advice

bed broke at the bottom of the head board on both sides when my fiancée‘s friend tried to move her bed with with heavy mattresses still on the bed. she thought about buying a new bed but I th it could be salvaged. It’s held up pretty good only being her and her young son but im in the picture now at 6 feet 270 pounds. I am working on losing weight to help lol

Dismantle the bed (essential, sorry). Glue with good quality carpentry glue, making sure you get glue throughout the entire break. Clamp tightly between two boards with 4 or more C-clamps, allow to dry for 48 hours, reassemble. That should hold it.

Experienced this when I was younger. Brace with zinc plated slotted angle.

I do not think a glue repair will hold 4-500 lbs.

Do as David suggested. A properly glued joint will be stronger than the wood.

One tip I forgot to mention. After applying glue but before clamping, wrap a sheet of polyethylene (6 mil works well) around the glue joint. That way any glue that squeezes out won't stick to the boards you're clamping with.
