That’s because most if the mow out of fashion grays look terrible with oak.

Only some warm wood tones work with grays - generally warm grays which read more green / gray or some greiges may work. You will notice many of the newer kitchens are not using much gray - sometimes a light silver if it works with the wood tone - but seeing a move back to warmer whites and creams.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to the post.

We plan on updating with stainless steel appliances, new cabinet hardware, new faucet, new

light fixtures and paint the walls. In my original post I stated that I was trying to find a gray wall color that would work with what I have. But not sure that gray is the go to color.

The countertops are by Corian in Sandstone. We plan on keeping them at this time. Also do not plan on replacing the floor which is light beige ceramic tile.

Since you are changing appliances, consider changing the over the range microwave to a hood to open up the cooking area - and a dedicated vent works much better. As a short person I don't like reaching up over the range to the microwave:) I refreshed my oak kitchen, and one of my favorite changes was adding under cabinet lighting. I love how it brightens the kitchen and helps me see what I am doing, especially in the darker fall and winter months.

Get a blue tone gray or a green tone gray. Or maybe a charcoal medium. Get samples.

I would not select gray for the walls due to sand colored countertops and beige floors. Sage green is often a good color in this case, Be sure that it is not mint green.

which will have knobs/dials in the front.

The countertop actually has specks of color in it but the color is sandstone. The tile floor is what

I do not think will go with gray. I have been looking at BM Accessible Beige but do not want

to much beige in the kitchen. I did look at some sage greens but just not sure.

I wanted to go with a gray with blue undertones but when I did samples it just did not work. Then looked at gray with green undertones but did not "grab" me either. But thank you for your input

Paint kitchen white.

Teal is great with oak or bold blue.

It is not the knobs on the range I have trouble with - its lifting up to the microwave - but as I said, I'm short:) A slide in range will require some kind of wall guard for the heat. Ask about that when you look at ranges.

I know what you mean. Plus I have a light beige ceramic tile floor. Since floor is in good condition not going to worry about replacing it.

@katie68 how did this turn out? I have the exact same cabinets and am trying to figure out how to update the kitchen without painting them. Not an easy task so far!
