I found a grouping of these in a little-traveled corner of my property. I don't mind the thorns or the colonial habit, if it's a native. Can you tell me?

    Yay!! It is Zanthoxylum americanum. Thank you. I have another stand elsewhere on the property, identified by the owner of a native plant nursery. At your suggestion, I ran out and peeked at the known plant, and they're the same.


    Such a pleasant change of pace to find rampant growth of a native rather than a pesky invader.
