I don't see it on my threads, even when I use the Houzz URL.

No, it is there. I noticed it about 2 days ago.

I also noticed that it will move the Best Answer to the top and then repeat the answer where it actually occurred on the thread.

Kind of weird, when you give a snarky or silly answer and it becomes the Best Answer!

Is it based on the number of Likes?

I assumed it was based on number of likes. On this thread, your reply is the “best answer” and it is the only one with a like. But who knows? I certainly don’t need an element of competition thrown in to my postings! 😂

Is this when you're on smart phone?

On my iPad and I don’t see it now. How can you choose a best answer? Especially in decorating, where the answers are mostly subjective. If one person says a blue rug looks best and another says a green rug looks best, it’s all a matter of opinion. This isn’t a contest.

I saw the best answer flag for the first time today. Don't like it. How can know what the best answer is until all the answers are in? And since threads never close and people occasionally reply to 10-year-old threads, that's basically never.

Now I'm afraid to "like" a comment in case I make it a "best answer" ! They should not be tied to each other.

Houzz needs to focus on making the forums consistently work, with simple to use photo unloading features, instead of adding nonsensical fluff.

I only see it on the Houzz url - not gardenweb, and I pretty much never use the Houzz url except for polls.

It does appear to be based on the number of likes, but the OP can change it to a different answer. Again, it only works with the Houzz url.

Well thank you, Houzz for the lovely pat on the back. Not sure it’s warranted as my own response to my question was voted “best answer”.

It’s based on likes? I almost never click “like”, and rarely remember to “thank” a reply. but I didn’t grow up on Facebook and craving social approval.

By “their”, I think he means Houzz’s liking. That’s a good question, how is the OP supposed to interpret something labeled Best Answer? (And what could this mean on Hot Topic LOL)

I clicked onto a thread a couple of days ago to discover that my reply to the thread was Best Answer and I had no idea what that was all about. My reply was at the top and I knew that I wasn't the first reply when I originally replied and I was really confused. I thought and think that it is stupid.

jojoco, maybe we all need to like your last post and make you the "best answer" on this one too! Terriks has been "best answer" for six days now ... how unfair! Heading off to like your post! 😄

BUT, Terriks still has 6 likes and Jojoco now has 3 ... so it isn't just the number of likes. I wonder if there is also a time frame involved? Or like some other Houzz stuff, there is no rhyme or reason to this latest feature!

I‘m not seeing Best Answer. Must be URL or device dependent?

This just started happening on my iPhone but not on my computer. I hate it. My own response pop up as best on my own thread and it was at the top after over 30 responses. I wish someone would just use some logic and stop trying to change things just for change sake.

I started seeing Best Answer right after you started this thread. But so far only on my iPad or Mac, not my phone.

I am however seeing a lot of duplicate posts everywhere. Anyone else?

Seeing the same as dedtired, the only duplicate is the "Best answer". I'm on a pc using firefox.

It was that way for me yesterday evening but it’s back to oldest first, and no best answer, this morning. I’m on an iPad. It’s odd to me that we (the collective we, and maybe the Royal we) have different screen displays (but I don’t know nothin bout birthin no babies or how computers work 🤷🏼‍♀️).

I prefer oldest first so I can see things in sequence and understand later comments.

Thanks for posting the screen shot - I don't see Best Answer but then I'm using GW.
