No pic yet you might want to try adding them in a comment. IMO no bench fits at a dining table no matter how casual. No lady in a skirt wants to climb over a bench to sit down nor ask everyone else to get up to leave the bench, benches barely work at the park where everyone in is pants , I will wait for the picture s with any other ideas.

Sorry, user error on posting the pics. I guess I should mention that there are no proper ladies in our family and no one has worn a skirt on a holiday in decades. I am lucky if they are not wearing sweatpants. It is possible that one of my kids could marry a proper skirt wearing lady, but they would probably be horrified to bring them home to an extended family event. If a proper lady comes, we would of course give her one of the chairs. The sweatpant wearing wolves would be relegated to the bench. it Is mainly the arms that I am worried about. We have never had a dining bench with arms.

Beverly, thanks that is what I worried about. If I don’t go with the parents’ bench, I will probably look for an antique oak dining set to match a buffet that I have.

Try it out and see how it works and, if it doesn't, then go to Plan B. If they still have it, then go to their house and try three people sitting on it. I see no problem, anyone can pull a bench a bit.

I would certainly give it a try. See below - when anyone wants to get in or out, you’ll just have to slide the table out a bit.
