Please help identify prickly vine #1 located in Southern New England

Please let me know what the following vine is. Is it native to Southern New England or invasive? What are its benefits? What are its downsides?

This vine sometimes (but not always) reattaches to the grounds such that it forms an arch with both ends buried beneath the soil. This looks like something that produced wild raspberries in summers' past but I don't see any fruits yet. If this is the case, is there something that can be done to encourage its growth such that it's easier to retrieve the fruit (as opposed to being difficult to get due to the thorns)?

If it can be removed, how is it recommended that it be removed so that it doesn't re-appear...(using poison only as last resort).
