Please let me know what the following vine is. Is it native to Southern New England or invasive? What are its benefits? What are its downsides? Do you recommend keeping it or removing it?

If it can be removed, how is it recommended that it be removed so that it doesn't re-appear...(using poison only as last resort).

This vine has a thicker stalk with infrequent but sharp thorns. It can appear to be darker green or lighter green depending on the outside light (see contrast in photos). When it dies, it just seems to maintain its shape but turn light grey (see in photos too).
