Best gray paint?

I have tried everything to find the perfect gray. I’ve researched all kinds of stuff about it and tried all of the popular SW colors. Repose gray looked like baby blue, agreeable gray is icy, and popular gray is too dark. My boyfriend has all of these colors and I love the way they look but they look completely different in my house! It seems like every gray I paint is either icy or beige I can’t find an in-between. My house is facing southeast so my colors should be warm not icy but they’re not! I tried a sample of my bfs paint popular gray and loved it but it was from 2013 so when I got a new updated sample of it, it was a different color! I am at a loss and about to give up. Is lowes SW colors different from the actual SW store even if I am getting the sample made in SW paint? Please help me find the right gray, I am wanting to paint my entire house! I know there are other post about this but I have read them all and I am still at a total loss.

first off, we need a pic that shows the whole room. there are at least 1000 shades of gray.

secondly, what kind of lighting do you have? It looks yellow in your one picture.

Notice both pics you posted that you like. they are both a nice, bright and cool toned lighting that gives accurate color representation.

If you have bulbs that give off yellow hues, like those with lower temp bulbs (anything below 4000K is going to have some yellow to it) then the colors on the walls will be skewed.

what about your floors? what are those?

lets see a large pic showing everything.

I did Light Pewter on this wall but I have a 4000K lighting

You should also prime the spots that you are sampling. you don't want a bleed through of the lower color.

    have you tried Pale Oak?

We are redoing things so I didn’t want to show the whole room as it’ll be different, I was just starting with paint first. Is starting with paint before floors and trim the wrong thing to do? I haven’t tried pale oak because there is no Benjamin Moore stores near me. I have different lighting all throughout but mostly daylight bulbs, this hallway has more yellow bulbs but we never have the lights on in it.

    no Ace? they carry BM.

You could try and get a color match with Behr paint, (or even SW) but it won't be exact. maybe close enough.

I posted a new pic up there of my wall w/light pewter. you could also try a color match w/that.

do you have an idea of what your floors will be?

I love that color you posted! I do have an ace I just didn’t know they had Benjamin Moore colors. I will definitely have to try that out. I added a sample of the floor we liked, we are going to be doing a gray hardwood and glossy white cabinets. Picture may not be exactly as it looks in person but very close.

nice. I did bright white cabs and a charcoal island,

Simply White on my walls (except for a portion of the kitchen in the light pewter), simply White trim, and these french oak floors

I wouldn't go too gray on your flooring. the natural wood tones like this work with all colors, and should you ever what to move away from gray, you're not stuck with it in your floors. (which are very expensive to change. wall color is not)

Your house looks awesome! We were also wanting to do a gray island with the white countertops. Of course ikea is closed right now and put a pause on everything. That has really been my struggle with wanting gray floors I am trying to still pick something that is not overly gray but I also do not want brown floors. I am really into contemporary and modern style, so I am struggling on what floors will look good without being overly gray.

My tile/stone/slab place is open so I went in there a week or so ago.

If you want gray, go for more of a neutral gray that has a subtle wood tone to it.

I saw these wood floors. they were decently priced. and very similar to what I have

this is the same as my floors, but in a diff color. Mediterranean collection, Calif Classics.

I also saw these new porcelain terrazzo tiles. I love these! would be great for kitchen floors, bathrooms, showers, entryway, etc.
