Mostly I use smaller pieces but never thought about it being because that's what I prefer. The smaller pieces are certainly easier for me to handle, plus, that's size of my scraps. lol I think I am more driven by what I feel like doing and what mood I'm in at the time. :-)

Very lovely quilt, Latifolia. Such pretty soft colors. I enjoy the challenge of small pieces, but I also enjoy making a simpler quilt on occasion. I have the fabric for a new quilt that is made from 8.5" Idaho Star blocks that have 43 pieces in each. That's pretty darn small, in my book. That's probably why I haven't started it yet. Instead I am making a Bonnie Hunter Pineapple Blossom quilt that has on 13 pieces for a 12.5" block.

I love the soft colors and what small pieces! It looks great.

I've never made anything with that small of pieces, but would not be against trying. I would like to make the Pineapple Blossom quilt, too. (Just printed the pattern as a reminder!)
