Can you tell me what kind of oaks are these? I got the acorns from a friend but he had no clue either. Maybe Quercus Robur? That's native in my country.

shaxhome - Thank you!! - Lagunaria patersonia. I looked it up online and that's it! Other names noted for this tree are: Primrose tree, Pyramid tree, Norfolk Island hibiscus, Queensland white oak, itchy bomb tree, & cow itch tree.

We need a new "What tree is this" thread for every request. Otherwise we'd have threads going on for years. A new id request would be lost at the end of hundreds of posts. The very short leaf stalks could point to Quercus robur also. It won't be long before these plants start producing more characteristic leaves and you will be able to tell for sure.

Another problem with piggy backing on an existing thread is the party that started the thread may get sent an e mail notification every time somebody posts a comment to the thread.

Norbert, you could have your title be 'What type of oak is this?' That would certainly get the attention of any Quercophiles.
