Fire and Ice help needed

Looking at my hydrangea this morning and I noticed white spots on leaves and branches but only on one side. Since I didn't know what I was dealing with and it's going to rain again, I thought I better cut off all infected leaves and branches. I don't know if this is a fungal infection or insect pest. Any help is much appreciated. Can't post picture.

I tried many times yesterday and again just now to post a pic and for some reason the little camera just looks at me.

My Fire and Ice finally died this winter as it has been a so-so hydrangea for years (2014 - 2019). I won't buy it again for my area.

It looked the best in 2017 but nothing to write home about. Even the tiger lilies were taller than this.

So much for the "fire"?
