Have you tried a glass cooktop cleaning cream like Ceramabryte or Weiman's?

I have, thank you...there is nothing else for it to "dissolve." The cooktop is perfectly smooth, nothing else to scrape with the tool that came with the Weiman's. This discoloration seems be coming from the bottom of the glass...

Razor blade scraper first. Then Ceramabryte.

I had good luck with rejuvenate glass stove cleaner.

If Cerium Oxide doesn't do it, it's toast.

Joseph...I am a bit confused...the glass cooktop is pitted ... it appears from the answers you have posted that the product you mentioned is primarily for very fine scratches on glass surfaces...do you have records of failure or success on cooktops.

That is not fixable. I learned my lesson using an aluminum steam canner on my glass stovetop and it cause that cloudiness. All the cleaning in the world won't fix it. I had the glass top replaced and bought a high temp hotplate to use when I do canning.
