Well, indeed the hosta shoots were delightful. Then again, my brother said just about anything with butter and garlic will taste just fine, thank you! Point taken -no pun intended-. The breakfast you see comprises pan-fried small potatoes, bacon, mushrooms and hosta shoots, thought I'd try the shoots for breakfast in as much we'd already tried them for diner a week ago or so. Not to put a fine point on it, I suspect the very first ones we had we had were Undulata and these likely were Hyacinthina, and no, there's no difference in flavour....

ps: speaking of another nondescriot veg ... lol... i once had hosta bread at hosta college ... frankly.. it tasted just like zucchini bread ... all the same flavors and textures ... another veg mom couldnt find in a can to ruin in the 1960s.. lol ... and which of course.. is to die for.. slathered in butter. garlic and bacon ...

You're right Ken! BTW, yes the hosta shoots in the garden shot do rather look planted too deep, but that's partially because he just top-dressed his beds...I'll have a word with him....
