Hello! I have a Stinark Red #5 Wax Jambu tree that I bought last year at Lukas Nursery and planted last November. It is only like 4 feet tall but already putting out several flowers and small fruits! I am very excited to have some on the tree, since I have only had 2 Jambu fruits in my life, one was VERY green (supposed to be pink) and sour, I was not a big fan. The other was from an old tree and it was okay, but had a lot of fruit fly larvae so I only got a little taste. I had several questions:
1. Has anyone grown this variety?
2. What does it taste like? I really enjoy Malay apples due to their mild rose flavor, they're super refreshing but it's just too cold in Central Florida for them.
3. My flower buds have several small black spots, is that fruit fly damage?
4. How can I protect them from fruit flies because I am worried they'll be a big issue.
5. What should I feed the tree with to ensure the best tasting fruits?
Please let me know, Thanks!!
