I think they'll be fine. May do two hours again at the warmest part if the day.

Looking at the Cleveland forecast it looks like you have a lot of low 40s and even a 35 degree night ahead of you. It looks like you won't be able to plant out either tomatoes or peppers till May 15th at least. I wouldn't leave them outside overnight any time soon.

I was not going to leave them overnight. I also have a large cold frame that is covered and has heating cables in the soil and I would put heat mats (for seed starting) inside also. Worse case I could easily cover it with blankets. Unless temps go below 30 I am ok. They would probably be fine under 25 - Would just toss in a small electric heater and leave it running all night.

I am hooping to get them in the ground in about a week.

Do you harden off for cold? I never have - so not sure. Meaning I put out on warm sunny days.

You're also acclimating to outside weather (e.g. wind, fluctuating temps). Keep in mind that even on cooler days, if the sun is shining the temp of the soil in the potted plants is going to get nice and warmed, which is a benefit, and also the UV light is going to be of great benefit -- my indoor light cart set-up, good as it is, just doesn't yield quite the same stocky sturdy growth.

What I"m saying is yea, it's fine. Just don't forget about them (um...yea..been there done that LOL!)

I'm in the same situation, Peppers getting ready to plant and cool weather all week, at least frost on Saturday. Put them out in 60-65F this afternoon. Real sun is good, but be careful with too much direct sun.

So far so good it was 46 yesterday so I put them in a cold frame with minimal heat. 5 hours. Today I will do 7 in the cold frame.
