The wall art pictured is too small - one large piece would be better.

The first thing I noticed is the real wood, rustic wall and the very traditional feminine couch. They don’t seem to go together.

Get rid of the pink pillows and replace them with larger, more rustic-appropriate pillows: animal print or tweed, and a sturdy throw or small blanket over one end of the sofa. A footstool and/or simple ottoman would also be nice.

The sun came out and I was able to get better photos and the rest of the room With my camera.

We love the rustic mixed with feminine, our entire house is like that. We live in the Colorado mountains, if our house was all leather with animal heads I think I’d cry. I do love the cedar walls though. I do think the chesterfield is a little busy with the wall but being small business owners in this economy I can’t buy another one anytime soon. We are able to purchase some new smaller items though.

1. I don’t like the pillows and plan on updating them.

2. I don’t like my coffee table.

3. I plan on putting b&w photos in the frames by the large window.

4. I hate the window behind the sofa!

Our main living room is upstairs, this space is quite small. The 4th wall is utility closet doors.

Back to the window... would you do a larger piece of art the same size as the window? It’s been suggested from somewhere else to do a gallery wall but I’m worried that might be too busy.

Could you put the sofa under the window on the other wall? Maybe move the chest to the wall where the sofa was but not so close to the window.

A piece of large art that balances the window, becomes the focal point, feels natural and compliments the femininity aspect you are looking for.

Can you move side table to other side and slide couch to the left, hopefully centred under art? I’d also use a more substantial lamp. These changes will draw eye away from window.

I might can play around with the furniture arrangement some, but that’s a TV over the cabinet it’s just in art mode.

I‘m on board with larger art by the window. Are we thinking vertical or horizontal?

Any ideas on a coffee table?

I don’t think it’s such a Problem, but you might want to consider shelves in the manner I’ve sketched in the attached photo. You also might want to paint out the trim, as I find that white is sort of oddly suburban in the middle of this very rustic cabin (of course, that means you’d have to paint it out everywhere – you can’t have different colour trim in different parts of the house as it looks very patchy).

I think the coffee table (and the sofa, as someone has already said) tending too much towards “pretty”. You want Aspen ski lodge, or fur trading post, fishing lodge, not princess. I’d also avoid the bear pic—it goes too obviously in that direction, making it kitschy. I’d be thinking ironwork, bubble glass (thick, chunky). (I like the cabinet you have at the other end of the room.)

I don’t have 4K to spend on a new sofa. I’m honestly not wanting a ski lodge look, maybe modern mountain.

I am curious about the idea of having shelves.

The lamp is from Froy, but just found the price. This style is fairly common and I’m sure you could find it much cheaper

What about putting the sofa on a diagonal against the corner? (sorry if this was mentioned). I like your glam ski lodge look, for the record.
