Stained Glass?

Looks like Stained Glass to me too, but SGs leaves are usually a bit more rounded.......hmmmmm. We need to check the HL pics. BTW, we all have had this happen. My Empress Wu was really Sum &Substance. Albo-Picta was a Gold Standard....Ken hits the nail on the head (or maybe the hosta) in his comment!

I'd go back to HD and find other hostas that look like this one and find out what they are labeled as! Don't bother asking a HD employee - you probably know more than they do about hostas so they really cannot help you.

Half the hostas at Menards were mislabeled last spring. I could have straightened out for them but they weren't paying me. On the other hand the people that bought them probably didn't care what they are called either, beyond hosta.

I agree with all the comments above. When I got my Stained Glass hosta from Lowes 3 years ago, it looked just like this plant. The leaves were small and more elongated than the broad, nearly heart-shaped, slightly domed leaves of the mature plant. Home Depot and Lowes tend to sell HOTY plants, so Stained Glass, Paradigm, Brother Stefan, and Rainforest Sunrise are all of the gold centered of those (I think). Time will tell, but the leaves seem too smooth for Brother Stefan or Rainforest Sunrise. All but RS are medium to large plants (3ft wide by 18 inches tall for me) in 7B.

RE the problem of name tags, Ken is right. Also, the customers sometimes pull and read a tag, and then stick the tag in whatever plant.

After looking at pics in the library, this really looks like Stained Glass. one thing will help, when it blooms, the flower is fragrant. Here’s a pic of my SG. Be warned, slugs and cutworms like it.

It aint just Hostas...They mislabel EVERYTHING.
