Another kitchen appliance question, regarding stove

I've ever only had white appliances and am wondering if you can clean black or stainless like you the white...as in take a brillo pad if needed to get the cooked on crud and not see scratches. I am a little ahead of myself as nothing is happening right NOW in terms of getting new appliances but I'm sorta thinking ahead and that is one of my concerns. We have a stainless steel fridge here at work and I don't like the smudges...I have only had white fridges too. But I could probably deal with smudges on a fridge when the time comes. My kitchen is a small galley kitchen so you don't see any of the fronts of the appliances head on so I think would make a difference in noticing smudges or not.

I have a gas stove and would like a stove top that has the whole top grates and burners...you know the kind with burner in the middle.

So how do black or stainless hold up to cleaning in terms of scratching etc?

Well, I detest stainless and I love black, but I haven't needed a Brillo pad to clean. However, I need a new black slide in stove with burners and it is not available. It was three years ago, but I didn't need a stove then.

I was planning to buy a new stove just before the shutdown. I have a stainless fridge and DW and plan to get a stainless stove. Right now I have a white stove and I don't mind it for a chubby retro look, but I don't think I'd get another white one right now. I've had black appliances and I don't want that because in my small kitchen it just creates a black hole.

I would imagine that scratching that occurs from scouring the burner wells isn't going to be any worse than what you get in a stainless sink. Eventually they all merge together. And besides, it's underneath black grates and doesn't really get scrutinized that closely.

I always use the handles of my side-by-side fridge/freezer to open and close the doors and I get very minimal smudging. The DW is another matter because of wet hands and drips, but it's easy to wipe off.

I have a black stove. I’d never buy another. It’s easy to clean but looks dirty again very quickly. I never used Brillo, just a plastic net scrubbie. I don’t find stainless steel that hard to clean.

i have a lot to think about...do I want to pain cabinets...if so what color...then of course what color counters/backslash...i Only have 2ft of counter space on each side of the stove and same on other side where my sink is...depending on colors of cabinets, counties, appliances will it all look choppy etc...I’ve been looking at pics to get ideas of might look good.

Do I want to invest in a counter depth fridge...is is worth the price difference...and will the couple inches make that much difference. Lots to consider.

Straight shot of kitchen....told you it was small.

It would be nice if the had a carved nook in the edge of the fridge door to elimate the added depth of the fridge.

I would definitely do a CD fridge...it will streamline everything. Do you use all of those countertop appliances all the time? It would be worth it to me to store them off the counter to have more space to work. I have a stainless 36” range...I don’t find it hard to clean at all. The grates are black, aNd the burners under the grates are also black. I find it easy to clean with one of those scrub dots sponges. The stainless part always looks good...the oven has this big pro style handle that doesn‘t smudge, and the rest of it really doesn’t attract fingerprints (unlike a fridge!)

My last kitchen had the exact same layout as yours, maybe a little wider and longer. I would definitely do a CD fridge. My last stove in that kitchen, a GE, was SS and it was fine. I would take an SOS pad and scour around the burners, no problem.

My current stove is a Whirlpool and came with the new build. I hate it and its black shiny top! Never looks clean and is a pain to clean. Oven temp has not been consistent either. Had started looking before Corona but it’s on hold for now. I can’t wait to replace it—mainly to get rid of the black top.

We’ve had two LG counter depth fridges—-one for six years, this one for two years and no problems.

What is CD? I tried looking it up. Thanks. Oh, “Counter Deprh”.

I love stainless and have it it two homes.

i have just discovered Weinman stainless steel wipes. Amazing!

    Mine don’t smudge.

One wipe does the fridge, stove and microwave trim as well as the sink faucet.

I think stainless has come a long way. My appliances are all Bosch.

Bunny, up north, I have a Kitchen Aid stove. The top is black and doesn’t show the scratches as much as a stainless top would.

I have yet to find a SS cleaner that works and I feel like I’ve tried quite a few. I wonder if different brands of cleaners work differently on different makes of appliances.

Have you tried the Weinman wipes?

I detest my black gas stove-top. It looks dirty/greasy immediately and is a PITA to clean. I also can't seem to keep my stainless appliance looking good either. I have tried all sorts of products and even if they look good at first, shortly thereafter they look smudgy.

The Weiman wipes are great. My SS appliances don’t get a smudgy as some people, say, maybe because there are no kids in the house. The wipes get everything sparkling in no time.

I have a gallery-style kitchen and went with the CD fridge. Less space inside for food but gives more space in the kitchen itself. We are due for new appliances and had been shopping prior to Virus, but never bought. So wondering when will it be a good time?

Extra bonus, they have a nice aroma.

Outsude, th Anna for the top about the stovetop version.
