Yes, that’s correct. I like to use a test tube to save on solution.

We use a kitchen-style measuring spoon, most often the 1/2 Tablespoon size, since that ends up making a convenient final volume. We use a 1:8 ratio for most roses (one spoonful of D&G and 8 spoonfuls of tap water); for more difficult things (e.g., 'Fortuniana', R. moschata) we'll up that to 1:7 or 1:6. We used to use 1:5 for 'Fortuniana', but have found that that really is not necessary.
