Coretec Cairo Oak VS Calypso Oak

Does anyone have pictures of either Coretec Calypso Oak or Coretec Cairo Oak installed? I thought that I had decided on Calypso Oak but I’m really worried that it’s a bit too light for me, especially the bevel color. I picked up a sample of Cairo Oak today and I’m debating if that’s better for me. I like the longer length but not sold on all of the knots. Any pictures help. I’m open to other suggestions as well. Thank you!

@Vineetha Hegde how does the calypso feel and sound? does it feel thin walking on it?

    thx!

No, It doesn’t feel thin at all. It did make some creaking noise in the initial few days, especially since we installed it on a plastic underlayment(it is installed in our basement that has a concrete floor). But now it doesn’t make noise.

    thx very much!

@Vineetha Hegde I am in Indiana and may be interested in your Calypso Oak boxes. How much are you asking?

@monicapwalker I am debating on Provenza...your floors look beautiful. Just wondering you placed the flooring around your new cabinets or under the flooring? I know they say you should not put cabinets on top but I have heard of many who do? Just wondering what you did. Thanks

@Lori Our cabinets were installed first, then flooring.

@Phyllis W - Hi, I do have those extra boxes of calypso oak.

@vineetha hedge - We’re in Elgin willing to pick up. How much are you selling per box?

@Phyllis W - Hi Phyllis, I messaged you via direct message (in houzz website) regarding the price of the calypso oak boxes. I am not sure if you saw my message. But I was saying that we got our flooring for 100$ per box (about $4.23 per sq ft). I have 3 of them. Let me know if you would like to take all 3 or just 1.

@Vineetha Hegde where did you purchase the Calypso Oak that you were able to find that pricing? So far the cheapest we can find is around $5.60 per sq ft which is out of our budget sadly

Hi @Stephanie K - We got our flooring from Riverwoods flooring in Indiana. Here is the link : https://www.riverwoodsflooring.com. We ordered online and they delivered to our house (free shipping). We had a great experience with the company. Note that we bought our flooring in May 2021. So the prices might have changed now. But definitely contact them.

@Stephanie K - Also, it is 0$ tax since it was an online order. So more savings :-)

Oh wonderful to know, thanks so much @Vineetha Hegde I just sent them a message!

I love all of these floors. Can you tell us the brand and color from top to bottom please 😊

@Vineetha Hegde I just ordered from Riverwoods and so far they're wonderful! Laura has been fantastic to work with! Thank you for the recommendation (via this thread!).

I did also @Vineetha Hegde. definitely best pricing too. You should be getting commission ;)

    @Stephanie K - :-) Glad I was able to help.

@Stephanie K seriously! Did you go with Calypso? I ended up going with Cairo. I hope I love it because I ordered enough to do my ENTIRE house (2800 sq ft!). I did find one other flooring store online that was slightly less expensive/sq ft., however with tax and delivery, it exceeded the cost, so this was definitely a better deal! So grateful for the recommendation @Vineetha Hegde!

I actually ended up going with a coretec called norwegian maple. its for our whole house too but our house is only 650 sq ft so we were worried tbe bigger planks would look too big in our tiny house as much as we loved them.

@Vineetha Hegde How is your Calypso Oak holding up now that you've had it for a year? Thank you! It's so beautiful, I'm hoping it's durable too.

Hi all! has anyone found any othrr LVP brands with similar color to calypso oak, cario, or ravenswood? I love the white oak look and these colors but its out of our budget

Hi @mikellamaughan - The floors are still absolutely beautiful, not even a single scratch, even though my kids are rough on them. I love how low maintenance they are compared to the engineered hardwood we have on the other floor.

@Amanda Alvarez @Stephanie K Definitely call Laura at Riverwoods Flooring in Fort Wayne IN - I discovered them thanks to this thread and they had the best pricing I had seen, better than my local Prosource. They may have suggestions for dupes. Pricing varies based on location and I think Coretec raised prices last week by 8-10% - before the price hike it was about $4.10/ft for Cairo Oak/Ravenswood and about $5.10 for Calypso Oak.

I bought Calypso Oak sight unseen bc it was in stock, whereaas Cairo was backordered by about a month. I am very happy with Calypso's neutral white oak look (with SW Pure White walls), but looking at some samples of Cairo Oak now I think I would have been equally happy with the Cairo.

Where have people purchased Cairo Oak? i purchased online knowing it was backordered by a month but it just got pushed another month so I'm afraid of this becoming a trend. I'm hoping there is somewhere that has some in stock.

@Kirsten Noyola where are you located?

I haven't been asking for Cairo Oak but these are the online retailers on my list:

    Efloors

Riverwoods Flooring (used them last month)

    Green Flooring Supply

    Fast Floors

Efloors was the cheapest for me. Also comes with free shipping and no sales tax.

We just had Calypso Oak installed throughout our house except for the bathrooms and laundry which are tile. I cannot tell you how much we LOVE it!!!

It is just gorgeous, even better than I had anticipated. Even my floor guy was impressed and he's been doing floors for a long time. We just moved in less than 48 hours ago so the house is a mess of boxes, but here is a photo in the hallway which is pretty true to life.

In that main photo, what is the color of the Mohawk sample?

    Cairo oak by COREtec

Beautiful. I love the knots variations. Looks just like real wood.

Hi, would you mind telling me the brand and color second from the top?

@rossijill33 I'm not 100% certain but that looks like Calypso Oak to me.

Does anyone have a box of Cairo Oak they’d be willing to sell and ship? I’m wanting more sq ft sample before pulling the trigger on the full order. Thank you!

anybody with Calypso Oak leftover...I am also looking for a bigger sample;)

May i ask what the names are of all yhe samples you have there?

DONT go with Ciaro Oak here is our experience...We put Cairo Oak by Coretec in out new build home from flooring liquidators in late 2021. We have 4 kids ages 9-1 and thought a LVP would be the most practical way to go. While I still agree LVP is great with kids this flooring is AWFUL! The color Cairo oak specifically eats anything it touches. Its sadly in our whole main floor so we are on it most of the day. This flooring makes holes in socks and in the knees of pants in literally two seconds. It has become quite costly replacing pants and sock for four kids. It is specifically this flooring. We have had other LVP flooring in past homes with kids and did not experience this. I tried reaching out to Coretec and got a careless response. It is very upsetting to spend such a large amount of money on flooring for a well known brand only to get a crappy quality in return. If you are looking at Cairo Oak from Coretec..keep looking. I wouldn't even recommend the brand after the way they handled their customer service.

I personally love our Cairo oak floors!!! They are the XL enhanced flooring so they have texture and stents super smooth. They are made this way to look more natural.

Apolsdorfer I tried to message you but couldn’t find a way to do it. We had the same experience with Cairo Oak! My daughter’s feet were getting cuts in them as she was just learning to walk at the time! All her socks and pants had holes too from crawling and walking. We went through a 3rd party flooring company and worked with them back and forth and were finally able to get the floors replaced. My husband did all the work himself initially but we were able to get them to install the new ones as well.
