2. I like a big patio. Also in 2, the pool becomes the view from the patio. And the fence gives the pool plenty of privacy.

Thanks! 2 is my favorite as well, I have some concerns about the left side being hidden from direct view from inside our home (the pic was take from the existing back patio), but the pool will be fenced and there will only be supervised swimming.

You need walk space all around the pool and why not just a rectangle? Trees that shed their leaves as far as possible from the pool. Fenced is a must where we live and kids never unsupervised near a pool.. I have never regretted putting our pool in BTW

Thanks for your comments, we plan to have a 4’ walkway around the back of the pool that will be at minimum 4’ from fence for planter area. I plan to remove all existing landscaping in this area and start over with pool-friendly plants. Totally agree on fence, we will have the entire area secured by a 5’ pool fence. The particular pool we chose was offered a lot a significant discount due to being in inventory. Thanks!

Option 2 allows for ample deck space, good view of the pool for enjoyment and safety and still leaves you space for plantings and furniture. It is an efficient use of space.
