I never used this new generation of GE machines but have looked at them in person. Overall they seem solidly-built though I was surprised and disappointed they were made in China. I have used previous generation GE front-loaders in the past and found they didn't balance loads well and weren't the greatest rinsers.

Out of the options you mentioned, the LG 3900 is the best and highest rated machine (actually rated #1 by both Consumer Reports and the Wirecutter). It's super fast, getting loads done in 30-40 minutes on average. It's assembled in the USA. As long as you don't overdo it on detergent and fabric softener, keep the door open between loads, and limit the use of cold washes, you should have zero issues with mold/odors. Pros suggest the use of a high quality old-school powder such as Tide which leaves less residue inside the machine and on your clothes. You'll need no more than 2 tablespoons per load.

Whatever you get, read the owners manual and follow it's guidance.

The 3900 has a feature called TurboWash 360, which is a recirculation pump that cuts cycle times down considerably and aids in rinsing the laundry. The recirculation pump essentially increases the effectiveness of the wash as it puts all the water to work. Recirculation pumps are in most high-end washers.

The 3700 does not have a recirculation pump so most loads will take at least about an hour. It's worth the extra money for the TurboWash, just for the time it saves you.

If it helps any, my new GE top load w/ agitator is working JUST FINE. It's large capacity and the option of "all the water you want" allows me to wash king size quilted bedspreads and comforters. Machine seems solid. No problems and I love it! From what I've read, my machine was made in the US. Chicago...or Louisville.

It's a top load washer. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out how to make it work the way I wanted it to...not default settings. I'm VERY happy with it! The only down side is it's so deep I have to use a pair of tongs to get the clothes out ;)

I'm going with the lg wm3900. This is for a new build and I'll be moving in about a month. Fwiw, I like that the lg is a bit shallower than the ge for my space.
