Black beauty eggplant

Hey all!
Not a big forum person so I hope i am posting in the right spot...
So first garden ever, not pretending to know a thing. I have jalapenos, okra, squash, cukes, bellpeppers and tomatoes doing ok.
The eggplant is what I'm confused about, i don't know what to look for to see if they're successful at all. I have googled so many things to find out what to look for for a growing eggplant and can't find it.
See pics....what do i look for? Are they trying to produce?
Planted in late April. North of Houston, SE TX
