The plastic items might melt or distort from the heat.

One thing that is often neglected in using bleach for disinfectant is that the stuff expires. Year-old bleach is no good, or at least should be used less diluted. Also, once diluted, the effectiveness of the solution decreases fast - 24 hours or so. Spraying the tote, or just wiping it down with the disinfectant will do the trick.

I wouldn't bake pots or tools. Just throw them in a pail of disinfectant solution.

A lot of damp off can be prevented simply by having adequate air circulation and not keeping seedlings in a moist (or “damp”) environment.

Even if you sterilize soil, tools, containers etc, once they become exposed to the air and the billions of microscopic life forms that exist outside of an oven kept at 200 degrees, they are no longer sterile anyhow. Washing equipment with soap and water after you’re done with it is about the best you need to do so that it’s ready for next year.

If the sun is shining, try solar sterilization.

Re temp, it is not oven temp, but soil temp. Temp vs time; there are different combinations. Lower temps require longer time.

I would not cook planting mix in my oven. That good earthy, funky smell from good mix, baked into my oven, spread throughout my small house, no thanks.

My experience is that sterilizing at least soil dramatically reduces damping off in seedlings. Now that I do it, I *never* see damping off. I used to see quite a bit. My indoor tools never see unsterilized mix, so I never have to sterilize them. My seedlings are kept indoors until plant-out. I suspect there aren't quite as many billions of microscopic life forms floating around inside, and relatively few of them will be of the damping off pathogen variety.

I have successfully used a mild solution of Chamomile Tea to water baby plants to ward off disease.

Chamomile (and many Asteraceae) is some sort of very mild fungicide. Amusingly, chamomile plants are very susceptible to fungal infections (powdery mildew in particular), but I guess they're unfriendly to damping off pathogens. Hydrogen peroxide works too, I hear. I believe some people use it with topical strength (3%), sprayed on the soil once a day, but I'm not sure I want that strength touching my seedlings. I'd probably dilute it 10:1. Of course, you bake the soil, and you also get rid of bugs and weeds.
