is molding installed before doors/frames/vinyl planking is 1/4 needed

1. new flooring (vinyl planking) to be done

2. decades ago new doors, door frames and moldings were added later

3. WHY NOW ( unlike decades ago when the floor was first AND ALL LOOKED GREAT) ...is the molding done FIRST. AS WELL AS new doors, door jams which decades ago were done LAST AND LOOK GREAT ???.......

4.DOES ORDER COUNT ....WHY USE a FANCY machine to make it work when the moulding could simply be put on top ....AS I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE EDGES OF THE VINYL PLANKING. ....

5 **** l just put a piece of vinyl planking next to flat baed board in my house there is a small space....NOT GOOD ... PLEASE ADVISE. SIMPLY WHY ....CAN’T ...THE FLOOR GO DOWN FIRST THE COVERED WITH THAT SURFACE PROTECTION THAT IS ROLLED. OUT LIKE A CARPET ? Thanks in advance for your thoughts ???

I'm a little unclear of your exact question. But yes, ORDER does matter!

In the best scenario, your LVP should go down first (after vapor barrier and/or under layment, depending on the mfg. specs).

However, if you're not changing out any doors or baseboard, etc., then you or your installer need to know how to use 1.) an undercut saw 2.) add quarter round or shoe moulding (there should NOT be a gap!

Again, not sure if this is DIY or you are hiring someone. If the latter, ask for references and if possible, to see a finished job that is similar to the one you're having done.

Other considerations are doorway/threshold mouldings and where the LVP meets carpet or tile.
