Round tables are nice, they offer a more intimate setting.

Round tables work in larger spaces, too and could work in your room, as well.

I have a large round table in my DR. I like round tables since nobody sits at the 'head'. Not sure what size you are thinking of but mines is very large, so I ended up getting a lazy susan made for it. The lazy susan on a formal DR table is quite the conversation piece!

The only way to know if you can use your round table in the space is to know whether the table fits based on the measurements of the room and whether you are willing to spend the money to change the dual light fixtures to a single light fixture.

If you already bought the house, then go ahead and try to put your table in the room and see if it fits. Or measure first, get the light fixtures changed out, and then move your table into the room.

Estimate to change the double to a single fixture??

Depends on where you live. Electrician fees vary. You could use one of the lights for the center. I don't think it is large enough, but there are plenty of people who have lights too small for the area.

You might need a second person to patch the old holes.

I managed to find an electrician who charged by the hour with no service call fee. They charged $100 an hour. If you simply change the two fixtures to 1 and don't need to re-wire all the lights on that circuit, I don't imagine it would cost more than $300-$400. You can't patch the holes though, since it's not legal to cover a junction box. You'll have to put solid plates on them so the boxes are accessible.

The junction box can be moved. The electrician may be able to remove one of the boxes or de-energize it.

Once you move it, despite a clean inspection, you may find other issues or other changes you want to make. That way, the electrician can make one call.
