Is this rose getting adequate water? I'm assuming you have checked the soil for moisture, though. If you have a drip system, is the emitter plugged, perhaps? If the wilting increases drastically, you may have a vole or even gopher problem. I'm sure others may have better suggestions. Diane

I'm betting the newly established root system can not keep up with the transpiration rate at the higher temp. Does this wilt depend on the time of day? More water should help as well as a larger root system which only time will bring. Of course, as Diane mentioned, it could be animals, but somehow it looks more like a moisture issue.

Thank you Diane and Vaporvac, could it be because I water too much? When I planted it, I ended up digging a deeper hole and hence it sits a bit lower compared to the ground level... might trap water?

TO be honest I had to look up gopher and vole! so embarrassing! I don't see any path in my garden that might indicate they are running under and other plants are doing just fine so I'm hoping this is not the problemo....

Those critters can dig a long way, especially gophers, and you will see no evidence of a hole or path, unless you can trace the underground route to its beginning. I remember when I lost a Young Lycidas rose to a gopher. It wasn't until I did some digging that I found the underground tunnel that ended at YL's roots. It's a shocker when you give a slight tug to your rose, and the whole plant comes up with, voila, no roots. They were dinner for some varmint. I don't think planting your rose a little deeper would be a problem. Diane

I think it's just a combination of suddenly hotter temperatures, coupled with VERY succulent new growth. The roots just can't keep enough water pushed through the stems to keep them turgid. You don't want to OVER-water, but do keep the soil moist. You might also think about shading the plant with an umbrella or lawn chair in the hottest part of the day for a week or two. I'm sure it will be fine once the stems harden off somewhat.
