Landscape Design Design Dilemma Annuals

Hi! Looking for ideas for our lawn. We just made the little wall and evergreens last year to hide the electrical box. Not sure what to do elsewhere.
We get full sun from 1 pm until sunset.
Planning balcony railing flower boxes with lime potato vines and deep purple petunias.
We have 2 small kids so whatever we put on the front “lawn” needs to be low maintenance and not look terrible if it gets hit with a wayward basketball!!
Any ideas?

Canada is a big place :-) And with climates that range from very cold in winter to quite mild. The same plants won't grow everywhere. You need to be a lot more specific with your location to get any plant suggestions.

If not sod, then the lowest groundcover. I don't know what that would be there.

Blue fescue might be a good option. I don't know if I'd fill the entire area, but a few clumps here and there won't mind stepping on and a couple basketball hits.

The conifer by the door is going to be way too big for that spot. Plan on cutting it down in two or three years, maybe you or a friend can do a cut your own Christmas tree event :(

I would plant clumps of some sort of nepeta ( cat mint?) interspersed with maybe moonbeam coreopsis. Low maintenance and great for pollinators. Drought tolerant.
