The wrong rod was used if you want to open the entire span. It’s also extremely difficult to easily open drapes with just a pocket rod. You need a real drapery rod system that allows for brackets to be hidden, lined drapes for light control and heft, and drapery pins that work with the type of rod used.

You need a traverse rod with pleated curtains.

Those panels also need to be sewn together on each side and you need 2 x more of them they are too skimpy. I do agree to try and open these even if on a single rod would be very difficult to do. I sure hope this was not a drapery place that hung these without commenting on your choices .What you should have used is this system where the rod is on the ceiling so no supports needed . A more expensive solution but IMO the best for such a long wall. Maybe add grommets to what you have and use a steel rod it might work to make it possible to open and close easily.I would start my search again for enough panels to be at least 2 1/2 time the width of the wall and 3 x is even better with sheers look for the ones with grommets already becuase adding them will cost a fortune

What is the width of the whole span? If you don't do a traverse rod, you need a rod with one center support. @Tootsie is correct, it's difficult to open and close rod pocket panels. It will be much easier if they are attached to the rod by metal rings- either with clips or drapery pins. These aren't the greatest pics, but the first uses rings/clips while the second uses rings/pins. (excuse the hideous wallpaper- reno in progress!)
