Was it outdoors overnight during the very cold temperatures a couple of weeks ago?

Sorry but I don't think they'll open. The plants are either not yet big enough to bloom or they wanted more fertilizer and water during last year's growing season in order to produce blooms for this year. I have one in a bad spot and it sends up these 'dud' buds that don't open.

It has been out in the cold throughout, aren't they the ones that need winter chill to bloom? I guess I will have to wait another year or two. The previous couple of years, it was less than half the hight it is this time around. so, it's making progress. Meanwhile, I have Shirley poppies growing in there so not a complete waste of prime growing spot I guess.

They do need winter chill but not a late spring freeze. Sorry.

We never had any freezes since the peony sprouted early March when it got unseasonably warm. And they certainly don't look frost damaged and have stalled for a while now. Anyhow, I will feed them so they grow back stronger next year.
