Here is my True pp ’the blues’...just a baby newly planted.

Anyone? I thought for sure someone could ID for me : /

A P pungens "the blues" that's not so blue?

ho ho ho .. long time.. no time ...

whats our concern?? .. what are you seeing.. or not seeing???

color.. blue is a waxy coating.. and a big part of how blue is appears is whether the blue sky is reflected in the wax .. and boy ... have we had some grey days here in our MI ...

also. the wax wears off.. over the years ... rain.. rain on hot august days.. winter weather .... etc .. so its hard to compare 2 different plants.. that were not in the same micro climate in the last year or two ...

comparing the pix.. the low skirts look pretty equivalent ... i would prefer one with a straight leader ...

i dont know ...

im way behind on how they are all supposed to look at this young age ...

but bush's lace came to mind on the first impression ... im no longer sure that is an option.. anymore ... and I THINK... was a less blue plant ...

what ever.. glad to hear from you ...

ken

hate when i forget the link .. not its not pungens ...

Hi Ken! The difference I am seeing is in the leaders. The ‘true’ one is very soft while the other one is very stiff and needs no support... Which leads me to believe they are not the same?

Probably due to where on the stock plant the scions came from. Or other cultural variables, rather than genetic differences.

did we rule out engelmanii bushs lace ...???

or is it too young ....

It is young and was also just planted. Bush’s lace is nice too!

Here they are are side-by-side before planting....see the difference?

Whaas thank you. I guess time will tell. Love yours!

Agree whole heartedly on the chances they can both be the 'blues'.

Okay I take back everything I said LOL.

here is the one in question today....

I’m now convinced it’s ‘the blues’. Thank you everyone!!
