The leaves dont react to touching. I haven’t seen any of them flower either.

I'll try to avoid cutting a small section with my mower this week and see if it will flower. In the meantime, even if I can't identify it, is there a chemical I could try to kill it with that won't harm my fescue? I've tried pulling it, but with an acre of lawn...that is difficult. Plus, the roots never come with the top, so it always grows right back.

Sorry. I'm no help on chemicals. I don't use any herbicides and I don't have a lawn.

Did you ever figure out what this was or how to treat it? We are in West Texas too and just had some start in our yard.

Nope. i still cant figure it out. Even had two lawn companies take a look and both have never seen it.

I just submitted it to an app and it came back with Indian Rushpea! Looks very similar.

Woah. That looks just like it. Mine hasn’t had any yellow flowers but I do mow every week. Thanks a bunch for finding that. I’ll see what I need to spray. This is tough stuff!

Ours hasn’t flowered either, but like you we mow often. You’re welcome! I‘m going to ask our company that fertilizes our yard if they know what will kill it. If you find out, let me know and I’ll do the same.

Yes please do. I’ll call the landscape place I buy my fertilizer from also. Looks like it grows from tubers like nutgrass does.
