I had brought in two large chrysalises in the fall . They have sat on my counter all winter . Yesterday while doing the dishes I heard a single loud pop but couldn't figure out what from . This morning I found the chrysalis on the floor with a big hole in it . I figured what ever it was must have hatched and the dogs got it . Not the case it seems I found this guy at the other end of my kitchen this afternoon. He/she is a real beauty! 6 inches from wing tip to wing tip . A giant silk moth. When I brought in the chrysalises in in the fall I had no clue as to what it might hold.
