Yes... yes he does! Very difficult to work.

I had to move him off the keyboard many times... he gets upset... so I learned to gently hug him and smother the top of his head with kisses and he runs. He likes to be in my lap while laying on the keyboard.... I did the decoy... it had to be my lap and the keyboard with his head on my hand while I am trying to type. He wants my attention I think... he won't do the decoy keyboard and bites me gently if I try using the one he is not laying on.

He is 19lbs not fat, just big... large think part Maine coon size. He was a stray that picked us, a few years ago... he was under 5lbs and you could feel his ribs and hip bones... he was chipped but local humane/pound/and the vet couldn't raise anyone and the previous owner's home was foreclosed and condemned we waited 30 days to claim his chip to change it to my name. I picked all the bugs that were burrowed in and carefully cut all the matting out. Vet checked, and a few months he started gaining weight and growing in length... to his beautiful 19lbs!

That's a good clear list of electronic equipment to make accessible. Is your current budget in the Ikea or Sauder range? Say $500 for desk, filing cabinet, bookcase(s)? Do you have a good chair already? Would you draw a floor plan to scale?

I can try and draw a floor plan. I have a sliding budget... let me figure out how to draw a floor plan to scale. Can you suggest an easy online? I want to hide all the hard drives, router, external dvd drives but accessible... I might have to use another brick charger for the wireless earbuds... so the windows and door measurements are from the inside of the window and door not the outside casing. Also... I tried to find a vent to put in on the left return looking out next to the door..... it sticks out about 2 inches slanting upward.

I want to get everything up off the floor if I can... I want to paint the walls, lay down the carpet and do something about the windows.

My cat loves to be with me while on the computer. I trained her to turn around, sit down and put her head on a book laid beside the keyboard. She's a smarty and now its all by voice command. I got her and her bro when they were 5 weeks old and have trained them to relent from what they're doing. I put my hand between them and the object of their desire and say "That's a no!" A cat is never too old to learn a new trick, but they are hard headed sometime. Catnip can soothe most of them into a nap so you can get some work done. An expanded version of this below to cover an entire wall might work for you. Run a shelf under the window, put a cat bed there and lace it with catnip and lightly spray the areas where you don't want the cat with a cat repellent spray and then wipe off with a cloth. Keep the cloth handy if kitty approaches while you're working. Put your hand up between kitty and the keyboard and say "No!" Then put him back in his bed by the window and rub the repellent cloth across the path he took to your keyboard. It may take time with an older cat, and you may have to put some of your dirty clothes in the bed with the catnip to encourage him, but I think it can work.

I love your room. If you want some art in the room, get it first and let it drive your color scheme. Get rid of everything in the room, except what you need to work in the room, and organize it into boxes, bins, what ever so you can think straight about what goes where when. Then paint the room a nice soothing color you like...pick a color then go two tints lighter! And paint!

Then decide where the desk will go and set up the computer. Find a concealer for wires and plugs online or at the container store.

Add shelves and designated closed storage, even if it is baskets or fabric bins with clear large name tag designation for each bin.....get a perch for the kitty, and your are pretty done......anyway that is just my suggestion, but it might help?

Thanks for the floor plan. Please check your dimensions for the new units- The computer equipment you listed will not fit in the preferred space.: "I want to have everything in a vertical space...30 inches by 24 or 25 max."

I always had computer desk/cart about 24 inches wide and tall no, drawers, etc... easy access to everything but now with work pc/home PC and all the other list of goodies... I can't take wires anymore and also handling my mum's home so dual of everything it seems.

I also want to shrink down the window size, it takes up so much more room.

Ok... now I need to tackle the electronics and cords first... it is a maze... a mess and omg... so... I have been looking at ways to put all of that bits and bobs in to a slimline cabinet with all open in the back and possibly on wheels to roll it out to access all the bits, bobs, cords.

Ok... after seeing these posts I actually have two issues going on with this hot mess of a room... I need to tackle the electronics issue first before I get to the fun stuff.
