When you say Russian, do you mean imported from there? Are there regulations for importing vegetation/plants from other countries? But I follow a couple of collectors on IG from Russia and they also have such vibrant color and texture varieties. They are serious collectors too having stacks of lighted shelves with violets in all stages of growth and propagation! :D

Yes! Those two minis ones I ordered directly from a grower in Europe. I think there are regulations, but not sure what they are. :)

I should say, I ordered leaves... Not the plants.

Hi Violet Beauregard! You can buy Russian varieties of African violets directly from Europe, or you can purchase the Russian varieties through an American vendor. Violet Barn has a lot of Russian varieties if you are interested. I think you can also purchase some through Ebay.

Violet B., "Russian" refers to a type or category of Violet. They typically have larger, showier blooms in unique forms and colors and larger foliage. They tend to be vigorous gowers with long-lasting blooms.

They have a very interesting history. You might look at LyndonLyon.com for Russian or Ukrainian varieties. That company was the initiator of the Russian varieties by introducing plant stock to the various Russ and Uk countries.
