Total exterior makeover!! Help needed!!

Hi! We are doing an above the garage addition.

I think we would like to:

- Get rid of shutters

- Do a limewash treatment to make the limestone look cleaner, so the grout and stone would be a lighter shade and all one color

- Replace the wood painted porch upstairs railing with black metal one

- Replace windows and doors with new black windows

- Add an addition of a family room over the garage that would best suit the home and not look super boxy or weird, Not sure on siding color?

- Replace roof

What do you think? Any ideas?

Can anyone please give some suggestions or even better if you able to help put a mockup together or what the makeover would look like?

I like your ideas. I think a medium charcoal gray or weathered wood roof would look nice.

I wonder if you could set the addition back about two feet with a square bump out in the middle. The roof line could be lower than the main house. Inside, it could be a vaulted ceiling. Clad it in clapboards or flat panels with trim; see the section next to the garage below.

This is an example of the setback and the center bay, although not the same style as you house. Of course no Gambrel roof.

Far too much low limbs are covering house, making yard look neglected.

Are you talking about our large oak tree? It is a wooded neighborhood with big trees in every lawn.

Here is a photo taken from our front porch of our neighbors homes, mostly hidden from trees.

I used Romabio limewash in nube gray and revere pewter for the siding, they were a near perfect match. Like your idea to accent in black, will look great!
